What started as a routine day quickly turned into a heartbreaking rescue in Hampshire, England.
While collecting rubbish, a team of bin workers stopped in shock when they lifted the lid of a household bin. Lying on a piece of damp cardboard was a tiny, helpless group — a litter of newborn kittens, no more than a week old, huddled closely together to survive.
Without hesitation, the workers abandoned their route and carefully rescued all five kittens, rushing them straight to a nearby veterinary clinic. From there, the case was handed over to the RSPCA.

Rescuers later confirmed just how lucky the kittens were.
“It’s terrifying to think what might have happened if they hadn’t been seen in time,” said inspector Leanna Hone.
Despite the cold and dangerous conditions, the kittens miraculously survived. They are now safe and being cared for by a foster volunteer from the RSPCA’s Hampshire and Surrey Border Branch.

The five tiny survivors have been named Morel, Magpie, Molly, Penny and Saffron — and they’re already beginning to open their eyes and grow stronger each day.
Authorities are currently investigating how the kittens ended up in the bin, and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, the homeowner where the bin was located was reportedly shocked and deeply upset upon hearing what had happened.
For now, one thing matters most — these fragile little lives were saved just in time.
