Prince Harry Makes Surprise Return To Kyiv And Calls For End To War

Prince Harry made an unexpected visit to Ukraine this week, travelling quietly to Kyiv where he delivered a passionate appeal for peace and urged world leaders not to turn away from the ongoing conflict.

Speaking at a security forum in the Ukrainian capital, the Duke of Sussex directly addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to end the war and prevent further suffering on both sides.

Harry described the conflict as more than a battle over territory, saying it represented a wider fight over freedom, democracy and national sovereignty. During his remarks, he also criticised the devastating impact of the war on civilians, referencing allegations of violence, forced deportations and attacks affecting families and children.

The Duke stressed that the world must not become “numb” to the realities of the conflict and said his visit was intended to remind people internationally — particularly back in Britain — of what Ukrainians continue to endure every day.

Although he made clear he was not acting as a politician, Harry spoke from the perspective of someone with military experience, describing himself as both a former soldier and humanitarian concerned by the human cost of war.

He also appeared to call on Donald Trump to demonstrate stronger American leadership regarding the crisis.

The visit came shortly after Russia launched one of its deadliest waves of attacks on Kyiv this year, with missile and drone strikes reportedly causing multiple casualties and widespread destruction.

Harry travelled to Ukraine by train after reportedly flying into Poland beforehand. It marks his latest visit connected to his support for injured veterans and his continued involvement with causes linked to military rehabilitation and the Invictus Games.

The Duke has visited Ukraine multiple times since the war began, previously meeting wounded soldiers and civilians affected by the conflict.

His latest trip also coincided with tributes marking what would have been the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. While senior royals gathered in London to honour the late Queen, reports suggested Harry privately arranged for flowers to be placed at her resting place in Windsor.

The Ukraine visit follows another high-profile overseas trip by Harry and Meghan Markle, whose recent appearances in Australia sparked renewed debate over their public role and use of royal status after stepping back from official royal duties.
