They thought they were bringing home a hungry cat. Less than an hour later, they realized just how big the surprise really was.
Skyler and his partner, Nikka, had a simple plan for the evening: watch a late movie and find something good to eat afterward.
By the time they left the theater, it was already around midnight — and tacos were very much on their minds.
The couple headed toward a bus stop, planning to travel to a restaurant before going home.
But their late-night food adventure quickly fell apart.
They realized the bus they were waiting for was making its final run. If they continued toward the restaurant, getting back home afterward could become a problem.

It was a fitting reminder of the meal Skyler and Nikka never actually got to eat.
The seven kittens soon gained an equally playful collective nickname.
The couple began referring to them as Taco’s seven “Seasonings” — and sometimes her little “Frijoles.”
What made the entire situation even more remarkable was how easily things could have happened differently.
Had the bus schedule worked in their favor, Skyler and Nikka would probably have continued to the restaurant.
They might never have walked toward that particular gas station.
And they might never have met Taco.
A Missed Bus Became A Lucky Break
What initially seemed like an annoying change of plans ultimately put the couple in exactly the right place at exactly the right moment.
Taco was nearing the end of her pregnancy while living without a permanent home.
Instead of delivering her kittens outside, she happened to meet two people willing to bring her somewhere safe shortly before labor began.
Now, she doesn’t have to face motherhood on the street.
Skyler and Nikka intend to care for all seven kittens until they’re old enough to leave for suitable adoptive homes.
