On a freezing Valentine’s Day, a woman heard faint cries outside. Stepping into her backyard, she found a ginger cat standing alone in the snow, looking exhausted and unwell.
Gently tapping and meowing, the cat approached her door as if asking for shelter.

The woman, who volunteers as a foster for a kitten rescue organisation in Quebec, immediately knew the cat needed help. She reached out to Marie Simard, the founder of a local rescue group, and sent a photo, explaining the situation.
Upon receiving the message, Simard instantly understood they had to help.
“There was something in his expression,” she said. “You could tell he was desperate.”

Simard quickly advised the woman to bring the cat to a partner veterinary clinic for evaluation.
At the clinic, they learned the cat was suffering from multiple bite wounds, parasites, frostbite, severe dental issues and diabetes. It became clear he likely wouldn’t have survived much longer in the cold without help.
Despite all he had endured, the cat remained incredibly gentle, seeking affection from everyone around him. Even from inside his cage, he reached out his paw just to be touched.

He was later named Aslan, inspired by the lion from The Chronicles of Narnia.
After receiving treatment and beginning his recovery, Aslan was placed in a foster home, where his personality truly began to shine. He quickly bonded with the other cats in the house, especially one named Cleo.
Safe, warm and surrounded by care, Aslan transformed. He became affectionate, curling up beside his foster mom and showing gratitude in every little way.

Later, when it was time to find Aslan a permanent home, an unexpected bond kept him with Cleo. Their deep connection, always sleeping and grooming each other, persuaded the foster mom to keep them together.
In the end, they stayed together.
A year later, Aslan thrives. No longer a stray in the snow, he is now a cherished member of a loving family.
