Recent remarks by William about his “quiet faith” and commitment to the Church of England have drawn attention, particularly in light of his past distance from former Archbishop Justin Welby. Reports indicate that during Welby’s tenure, attempts to arrange meetings with William were unsuccessful, with communication seemingly cut off.
Royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah has suggested that William is someone who remembers where loyalties lie. If trust is broken or sides are chosen against him, it is not easily forgotten.
The situation is believed to be linked, in part, to Welby’s close relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — particularly during the period leading up to their wedding and subsequent public revelations about royal life.

The ongoing rift is widely attributed to disagreements following Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties and their public criticisms of the monarchy.
